Hyaluronidase
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme used to quickly and effectively dissolve hyaluronic acid-based fillers. It is a safe method to correct unwanted results or manage complications after injections, allowing the desired aesthetic effect to be restored in a controlled manner.
General information about hyaluronidase
Hyaluronidase is a drug that consists of an enzyme that breaks down the bonds that hold hyaluronic acid molecules together. Hyaluronidase is used to remove filler.
We usually use hyalase to dissolve migrated filler. When injecting fillers over a long period of time, it is not uncommon for some of the filler to migrate a few millimeters to a different area than the one originally injected. The most common example is fillers in lips that have migrated over the lip edge. Fillers usually cannot migrate far, but even a few millimeters outside can give an unnatural result. This is because the migrated filler creates increased volume in a place on the face where there is generally no volume. If you have filler that has migrated, we can help you dissolve it by using hyaluronidase.
After the treatment, you will be swollen over the area, but the swelling usually goes down within a few hours. If this is your first time using hyaluronidase, we always do a skin prick test to ensure you are not allergic.
If you are planning to fill the same area after your hyalase treatment, it is important to ensure that all the old filler has disappeared. Otherwise, we always recommend waiting at least two weeks after a hyalase treatment before performing a new filler treatment in the same area.
